The Wind Ensemble represents the flagship instrumental concert performance group of the Lebo Bands program. Composed of dedicated student musicians, the ensemble performs standard and contemporary masterworks written for wind band while maintaining a tradition of artistic excellence locally, regionally, and nationally.
Our History & Legacy Originally established circa 1971 as the Symphonic Band under the direction of James Carl McIlroy, the ensemble built a strong foundation of musicianship early on. Throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, the group consistently earned top superior ratings at competitive spring adjudications, including the Festivals of Music, Spring Fling, and North American Music Festivals.
The group was re-established as the Wind Ensemble under the direction of Doug Reichenfeld in 2003, shifting toward advanced instrumentation and expanded performance opportunities. Under his leadership, the ensemble has traveled extensively to prestigious performance halls, state and regional conferences, and nationally recognized festivals across North America.
